In 2024 and 2025, WOW – Women of the World Festival, organized by the British Council, returned to Pakistan with renewed energy, aiming to inspire, connect, and celebrate women from all walks of life
The challenge was clear: while WOW already had a strong international legacy, the festival needed to pull in new audiences for its panels and workshops, particularly from key socio-economic circles in Lahore and to amplify awareness through digital channels.
Our objectives were to increase brand awareness, grow social media presence, and drive in-person attendance. The opportunity lay in bridging the gap between offline community impact and online engagement transforming WOW into a movement that people not only admired but actively joined.
Our key insight centered on authenticity: women connect most deeply with stories of other women. This became the foundation of our creative and media strategy.
We anchored each year’s campaign around distinct yet complementary themes, “Sakhiyan” (Friends) in 2024 and “Surkhab” in 2025, celebrating women’s creativity, resilience, and contribution across industries. The campaigns brought together stories of empowerment and community into a cohesive, visually engaging digital narrative.
Our digital approach focused on storytelling and connection. Executed across Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, the campaigns featured a mix of reels, stories, influencer takeovers, panel teasers, and event promos. The tone was conversational and inclusive designed to feel like a movement rather than a marketing push.
Content followed a three-phase rollout: pre-event storytelling and teaser content to build anticipation; live coverage and behind-the-scenes storytelling during the event to expand reach and engagement; and post-event highlights to sustain momentum and turn attendees into long-term followers.
We used a balanced mix of paid and organic strategies, optimizing ad spend for awareness and registrations. Paid campaigns were geo-targeted to Lahore, focusing on educated, socially active women. Organic content leveraged authentic storytelling, reels, interviews, and user-generated moments to build community trust. I led the full digital strategy from creative direction and copywriting to paid media planning and influencer collaborations, ensuring every touchpoint aligned with WOW’s empowering vision.
The campaign exceeded expectations, creating measurable impact in both digital growth and real-world engagement.
Across platforms, WOW 2025 reached over 3.5 million users and generated 5.7 million impressions through paid ads, achieving 4.8 million total video views on Facebook alone. The campaign drove 42,000+ page visits, 24,000+ clicks, and boosted engagement across both the WOW and British Council Pakistan pages, totaling 24.7 million views and 8.5 million link clicks.
On Instagram, follower growth increased by 1,662, bringing the total to 9,500+, with over 1.3 million impressions, 537K accounts reached, and 15K+ content interactions during the campaign period.
Most importantly, paid media efforts resulted in a 30% increase in footfall from Lahore, directly tied to geo-targeted ad pushes and social engagement.
Through this campaign, WOW not only expanded its digital footprint but also deepened its cultural relevance evolving from an event into a movement that celebrates women’s creativity, leadership, and unity.
The project reaffirmed the power of digital storytelling to build real communities and bring together women across backgrounds, industries, and aspirations. For me, developing WOW’s digital identity was a reminder of how strategy, empathy, and creativity can converge to create something truly meaningful, a space where women empower women.
